Prime Timers History: The Beginning
The organization has grown to over 70 chapters worldwide, which are located throughout North America, Europe and Australia. Prime Timers was founded in 1987 by a retired professor, Woodrow Baldwin. He realized a wide gap existed in today's society, which caters almost exclusively to youth at the expense of the older population. This worship of eternal youth is never more flagrant then in Gay culture. Woody began the Boston chapter by placing ads in local newspapers and soliciting his many friends. Expecting only a small handful of men to attend the first meeting, he was surprised when over 40 men showed up. Indicating to him the need for social and cultural organizations to aid and support aging Gay and Bisexual men. Learn more about Prime Timers Worldwide and see links to other chapters here.
